July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, an observance dedicated to raising awareness about the unique mental health challenges faced by racial and ethnic minority groups. Bebe Moore Campbell was a mental health advocate who founded the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign with the hopes of improving access to mental health treatment and public awareness of mental health illness among underserved communities. While mental health challenges can affect anyone, accessing care and attaining favorable mental health outcomes can present particular challenges and inequalities for members of marginalized groups. During this month, I will provide useful information and resources to increase mental health literacy, lessen stigma, and increase awareness in line with Bebe Campbell's objectives.
